Welcome to the website of the
Forensic Psychiatry Research Society

Forensic Psychiatry is about the assessment and treatment of mentally disordered offenders; the complex relationship between mental disorder and criminal behaviour; and the systems and services, including legislation, involved in the assessment and management of offenders or others requiring secure psychiatric care.

The next Forensic Psychiatry Research Society meeting will take place in Oxford on Thursday 20 November 2025. Please see

In the morning, there will be a number of short presentations on new research. In the afternoon, we will host a risk assessment masterclass, with presentations on the development, validation, and communication of risk assessment tools relevant to forensic mental health, and how to conduct and appraise systematic reviews in the field.
